PhanCon is an annual international gathering of folks who flew, maintained, supported, photographed, tracked, modeled, or just plain enjoyed the sound of freedom promoted by this premier fighter of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now celebrating over 50 years in action, the F-4 is still flying today in defense of many nations around the world, and while no longer on the front line in the US, she still serves an important role there too.
We get together to share stories, re-establish old friendships, examine memorabilia, and when possible view the F-4 in action. Our primary purpose is preserving the heritage of the F-4, and this PhanCon is just but one of the endeavors the F-4 Phantom II Society supports. One does not need to be a member of the Society to attend, although we encourage you to join the Society in support.
You will see at the end of this page a list of folks coming in from all over the world. We encourage you to join us. Already on the list are folks who flew the F-4 (and knowing them have some great tales to share, grin), maintainers (some great stories there too), a couple of MiG Killers, folks that have done some really really great photographic work, and those that have made fabulous models of the F-4, plus many others with unique F-4 backgrounds. Please come to share your own experiences and expertise. Re-establish friendships, and create new ones.
(Please enjoy the short promo below scheduled to appear on Armed Forces and commercial networks soon.)
This year we are returning to one of our favorite spots, Holloman AFB, NM. Our conference will be located at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotel in Alamogordo NM. On the schedule are of course visits to Holloman and F-4 and F-22 operations there. We are including GAF Tornado and Predator/Reaper Drone operations as well. We should again get to see F-4's in the air, hear the sound, and smell the JP-4. Great memories reawakened await you. Join us!
To cover transportation, meals, and facility rentals the conference fee will only be $150. We have received tremendous support to help keep that cost down this year, both from the base and local supporters. We thank them all. .
Hotel
We have discount rates set up at our primary hotel, the Holiday Inn Express (Group rate FPS) and an overflow hotel next door, the Hampton Inn. Both hotels need reservations to be made by 19 October.
[10/17 The Holiday Inn Express is full. There are at the moment still ten rooms under the reduced rate available at the Hampton Inn. ]
If you wish to come early for the Holloman AFB Open House on the 24th, the Hampton Inn will extend their discounted rates to cover that.
Note, by law all rooms are non-smoking.
