February 2 & 3, 2012
Thursday, February 2
1:00 pm (Cardinal Ballroom) - Opening Plenary - Partnership: A Word too Often Used....A Concept too Seldom Achieved - Presented by Bill Millett, President Scope View Strategic Advantage - You hear a lot these days about the importance of partnerships, particularly in tight economic times. But while everybody talks a good game, relatively few put it into action in ways that truly benefit their organizations and the communities and people they are designed to serve. This session will look at those elements of a partnership that must be embraced if you intend to get beyond the warm and fuzzy sound bite and into the hard and fast impacts that only true collaborations can achieve.
2:15 pm (South Room) - CEO Round Table -A Must Attend! Join fellow CEO's from across the state to discuss system issues and identify ways to counter the challenges with opportunities. The afternoon will include a presentation on the Partnership Work Group (part of the Second Phase of the UWW US Economic Model and Growth Task Force) by Dan McCormick; how to develop cooperative relationships and synergy around statewide and regional campaigns; a look at 2-1-1 in 2012; plus an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual concern and help set the agenda for 2012. Your board leadership is invited to attend this session.
2:15 pm (Cardinal Ballroom) - Find Your Motivational Language - What does it take to motivate an employee, your boss, your co-workers? Why doesn't praise or a nice gift work with some people? We tend to motivate others the way we are motivated - but what if that doesn't work? Join the fun by identifying your own motivational language, find ways to speak other's motivational language and take away some practical advice you can implement at work and even at home.
3:30 pm (Cardinal Ballroom) - That Really Works...Tell Me More! - When the going gets tough, the tough get going by using innovation as the springboard to success. Come network and be a part of the knowledge exchange in facilitated topics of mutual interest. And if you have a really good event or best practice that worked well, bring copies to share.
5:30 pm - Let the Networking Begin - The UWNC hospitality room is located in Villa Parlor 510
Friday, February 3

9:30 am (Cardinal Ballroom) - Learning From the Masters - Prepare to be inspired and motivated by some of North Carolina's award winning companies as they highlight their best practices for campaign and year-round strategies in supporting their communities through their local United Way partnership. Take back these winning strategies to help enhance your community partnerships and grow your campaign.
12:00 pm (Ross/Tufts/Olmstead/Callaway) - We All Win When We LIVE UNITED Luncheon - Help us express our thanks and appreciation as we recognize the success of our community partners who have demonstrated the Spirit of Excellence through their partnership with United Way. These dedicated community partners have shown how we all all win when we LIVE UNITED.
