| Under the guidance of Fr. Rocco Porter, Bear Catholic supports the spiritual development of over 500 students during a critical transitional time in their lives. Our Catholic University Center provides a prayerful, social, and joyful respite for students to discover their faith and meet caring peers who share similar beliefs and values. We seek to bring Christ to the community of the University of Northern Colorado through sound theological education both within the Catholic University Center and on the university campus. At Bear Catholic, students of every age and from all over the world are given an opportunity to come together to worship, discover Catholic tradition, receive the sacraments, discern vocations, attend life-altering retreats, and give their time to assist the poor. These are but a few of the opportunities Bear Catholic offers for formation, study, mentoring, and action that we offer. Bear Catholic complements the secular education provided at the University of Northern Colorado in meaningful ways. Young adults who pair what they learn in the classroom with Catholic tradition and theology will learn to make thoughtful and faithful choices in their lives. Students who begin to understand social justice and the abundance of Christ's love, will integrate that knowledge into their decision making as future employers, parents, and citizens of the world.
