Kevin Hays Masterclass

Pianist Kevin Hays is conducting another in a series of workshops for pianists (and other instrumentalists interested in developing their harmony, line playing, improvisation and piano skills, etc.) on Sunday, August 19th from 1-4:00pm at The Church Street School for Music and Art in NYC.

These are relatively small, intimate classes (10 person max) with an opportunity to play, ask questions, problem solve at the piano and discuss whatever issues students want to bring forward.

 Topics will include:

• Harmonic Development on Standards and Originals
• Voice Leading through progressions and in soloing (applicable to all instruments)
• Rhythm and Phrasing - ‘Demystifying Swing’
• Creating Voicings Spontaneously  
• True Improvisation (Melodic and inventive line playing)
• Solving Technical Problems
• The Art of Building a Solo
