Tucson, AZ 85716
Instructor: ADOSH Consultant Joe Ornelas
The instructor will present and discuss the hazards associated with flammable and combustible liquids as well as the proper chemical storage and handling procedures.
Many of the substances we use every day are combustible and flammable liquids—like gasoline, kerosene, alcohol, and solvents. Even though we take them for granted, they can be very dangerous, causing fires or explosions that result in major property damage, injuries, and death. Learning to identify ignition sources and potential combustion from chemical or thermal sources will help the employer and employee better understand the need for proper storage. labeling and handling.
The new GHS labels and pictograms, as well as the revised classification of flammables and combustibles will be discussed to get employees and employers ready for the 2016 changes.
A discussion of fire extinguishers and their applications plus emergency actions to take in the event of a fire will prepare employers to adequately plan for such events.
The instructor will address the laws found in OSHA's Flammable Liquids Standard 29 CFR 1910.106.50.
