Welcome to our Kids Culinary Camps! Each camp is held Monday - Friday from 9 am - 1 pm within our cooking space inside of Atherton Market in South End. We highlight all of our cooking classes by using local and organic ingredients. Our Kids Culinary Camps are meant to be more then your 'cookie-cutter' and "kitchy" cooking school. Chef Alyssa's Kitchen wants to teach the young chefs fantastic dishes! We do kindly request that your child has some experience cooking with a parent in the kitchen before signing up.
On Friday afternoon - parents are invited to observe the end of class and enjoy lunch with their young chef.
Registering siblings? Let us know and receive a $25 discount per child. Each child will receive an apron and recipe book to take home. And please let us know about any allergies as soon as possible.
Each day the class will be focused on a specific theme. Examples include
Taco Day: braise chicken, make guacamole, pico de gallo, rice with herbs, tortilla press
Pizza Day: individual pan pizzas, toppings, marinara sauce and dough
Summer BBQ Day: okra fries, lasagna, popsicles, orzo pasta and pasta salad
Burger Day: learn spices and flavor combination. Making a burger from start to finish (grinding the meat, make ketchup and buns).
Knife Skills Day: learn the basics, rules of the kitchen and how to use a knife. Make salad dressing, roast potatoes and marinate chicken
Baking Day: pie crust (sweet and savory), homemade healthy pop-tarts, pot pie.

Hi Everyone! My name is Kerri Harbour and I'm so excited to be the lead instructor for all of the Culinary Camps from Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. I was born and raised in Pinehurst, NC and have lived in Charlotte for over four years. Since graduating from Baking and Pastry Arts School from Central Piedmont Community College in 2014, I've been working for Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. Additionally, I've also worked for The Country Club of North Carolina, The Fresh Market and Aspire Bakery and Bistro. It has always been a dream of mine to inspire others to follow their passion and I am so excited for the opportunity to teach at Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. I love children and looking forward to a fantastic summer!
