Kids Culinary Camps
Session 2: July 13 - 17
Age 13 - 18; 9 am - 1 pm
Session 3: July 20 - 24
Age 8 - 12; 9 am - 1 pm
Welcome to our Kids Culinary Camps! Each camp runs Monday - Friday from 9 am - 1 pm within our cooking space inside of Atherton Market in South End. We highlight all of our cooking classes by using local and organic ingredients. Our Kids Culinary Camps are meant to be more then your 'cookie-cutter' and "kitchy" cooking school. Chef Alyssa's Kitchen wants to teach the young chefs fantastic dishes! We do kindly request that your child has some experience cooking with a parent in the kitchen before signing up.
On Friday afternoon - parents are invited to observe the end of class and enjoy lunch with their young chef.
Registering siblings? Let us know and receive a $25 discount. Each child will receive an apron and recipe book to take home. And please let us know about any allergies as soon as possible.
Each day of the class will focus on a specific theme. Examples include:
Kitchen Skills: how to use a knife and proper cutting, basic cooking techniques, flavor combinations. Cooking a full meal will include these skills with marnating chicken, making a salad and dressing and roasting potatoes.
Taco Day: homemade pressed tortillas, braised chicken, make guacamole, pico de gallo and rice with herbs
Pizza Day: Make dough, traditional marinara sauce and toppins for individual pan pizzas
Summer BBQ Day: Grilled steak and vegetable skewers, pasta salad, okra fries, and fruit popsicles
Burger Day: Making a burger from start to finish...grinding the meat and seasoning, homemade buns and ketchup. Potato chips as well.
Baking Day: pie crust, sweet and savory for homemade healthy pop-tarts and chicken pot pie

Hi Everyone! My name is Kerri Harbour and I'm so excited to be the lead instructor for all of the Culinary Camps from Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. I was born and raised in Pinehurst, NC and have lived in Charlotte for over four years. Since graduating from Baking and Pastry Arts School from Central Piedmont Community College in 2014, I've been working for Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. Additionally, I've also worked for The Country Club of North Carolina, The Fresh Market and Aspire Bakery and Bistro. It has always been a dream of mine to inspire others to follow their passion and I am so excited for the opportunity to teach at Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. I love children and looking forward to a fantastic summer!
