Title:  Excavation Safety Awareness

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  

The excavation safety awareness course is designed to give students a better understanding of the OSHA requirements for excavation’s and their protective systems. Included in this are the requirements for and duties of the competent person. The course will also discuss training and inspection elements of the standards.

 COURSE OUTCOMES

As a result of successfully completing this course, the student will be able to: 

• Explain the various soil types/classifications covered by the standard.
• Describe overall requirements for excavation inspections.
• Describe the duties of the competent person as designated in the regulations.
• Be able to spot unsafe excavations and conditions surrounding them.
• Explain the purpose and function of several protective systems.
• Explain access and egress requirements for excavations.
