We are happy to host Khenpo Tsering Samdrup this November, including a 4-day intensive Buddhist Studies course covering three texts by Maitreya Thursday - Sunday, November 30 - December 3. Bring your pen, notebooks, and copies of the texts.

This is a continuation of the August course and the program is not geared towards beginners but rather students with some background in Buddhist philosophy. If you are not sure if this course is for you, you are welcome to try the first session(s) before committing to the full program.

The weekend will use three of Maitreya's Five Teachings to provide an explanation “of the way things seem to be as well as the way they are,” an “analysis of how ordinary confused consciousness can be transformed into wisdom,“ and how we should understand Buddha Nature, the “ground of enlightenment...and the nature and qualities of Buddhahood.”

Appreciated for his warmth, openness, delightful sense of humor, and depth of knowledge for these and other texts, Khenpo teaches at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) in New Delhi and is headmaster of the monks’ college Shri Diwakar Vihara Buddhist Institute in Kalimpong, India. For the past 10 years, Khenpo has taught Buddhist philosophy at numerous centers throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, the US and South America. We are so excited to offer this intensive course. Khenpo Tsering Samdrup was born to a family of Tibetan refugees in Dharamsala, India. In his teens Khenpo moved to Rumtek Monastery, the seat of the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism in Sikkim, India and began spiritual training as a monk. He had a rigorous education in all the major texts of Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan literature, grammar, and history at Rumtek's monk college at the Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies. In 1992, he was awarded the ‘Khenpo’ degree (equivalent to a PhD) and has been teaching the Dharma ever since.

1 day: $50 Standard, $70 Sustainer.
Full weekend: $150 Standard, $200 Sustainer.

Participants are encouraged to make offerings to Khenpo Tsering to support his tireless activities to benefit all sentient beings.
