Reston, VA 20190
WELCOME.
All ASERL members are called to attend the 2019 Annual Meeting and Spring Membership Meeting. These meetings will take place May 30-31 in Reston, Virginia. Each ASERL institution may send one representative, preferably the library dean/director.
DRAFT AGENDA: See http://www.aserl.org/2019_05_aserl_membership_mtg_agenda_draft/
Highlights
For those arriving on May 29, we will host an informal gathering at a venue within walking distance of the hotel. More information about this event = TBA.
The Membership Meeting will begin at 12:30pm ET on May 30. It will include a half-day session led by DeEtta Jones to advance our ongoing conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are also forming a panel presentation, tentatively called "Breaking Up is Kinda Hard to Do" to share information about members' efforts to review/re-form 'big deal' journal packages.
On the evening of May 30, we will enjoy tours and a reception of the new Fenwick Library on the campus of George Mason University. Our thanks to our GMU colleagues for hosting the reception and tours.
The Annual Meeting on May 31 will include annual Board elections and financial updates, a vote on proposed changes to ASERL's bylaws, and a discussion / possible vote on a proposed new staff position for ASERL. [NOTE: The staff position would require an increase in ASERL membership fees. More information to come.]
