Bucket Brigade Presents:
Summer Theater Camp (for students going into Grades 9-12)
with professional writer/actor/storyteller and all-around-Theater-Doer Jeremiah Gamble!
Who: For students going into Grades 9-12
(with all levels of theater experience)
When: Thursday, July 23rd - Saturday, July 25th
What (time?): 9am-Noon Thursday and Friday, 9am-3pm Saturday (plus 6pm-8pm for Saturday performance)
Where: Art House North, 793 Armstrong Avenue, Saint Paul MN 55102
.
How (much?): $125 for VIRTUAL CAMP. $140 for IN-PERSON CAMP.
Students will be exploring elements of creative expression and theater through on-your-feet-exercises and improv games. They will be encouraged and equipped to freely express themselves, engage their imagination, work in an ensemble, effectively communicate physically and vocally and create a short original theater piece, in their own words, that will be performed for a video-recorded showcase, AND POSSIBLY a live safely-distanced performance, Saturday evening, July 25th, 7pm at Art House North.
We don't just "do theater games." We are passionate about creating new work– honestly wrestling with ideas and communicating them thoughtfully and imaginatively through art. We love inspiring students to find their voice and communicate what's in their head and heart.
The theme this year is: Light – We all need light– it shows the way, reveals hidden things, warms, comforts… Our world can feel pretty dark at times. How can we be light? Where do we see light around us? Where is light needed? What do we do in those times when the darkness feels overwhelming? It’s good to be reminded that even when it feels like things can’t get any darker, one little light can make all the difference. Students will write their thoughts about the topic, we’ll compile their thoughts and develop and perform a short theater piece in their own words.
