Johnson County Ambulance District Training Center

The EMT program is a 140-hour course designed to introduce the participant's basic life support and pre-hospital emergency medical care. This program is considered to be entry-level for a career in emergency care and is based upon the 2009 EMS Education Standards for Emergency Medical Technician. There is a clinical and field experience component to provide the student with exposure to the hospital emergency department and ambulance settings.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements and the state practical examination, the participant will be eligible to apply for and take the National Registry cognitive examination.  Once the national practical and written examinations have been completed, the participant may apply to the State of Missouri for licensure as an EMT.  There are separate fees for these licensure examinations that are not included in the course fees.

Admission Criteria:

At least 18 years of age to receive the State of Missouri EMT licensure.

Must pass a criminal background check to complete clinical experiences.
