At Natural Bridge, VA
The Bodhi Path Natural Bridge Center is pleased to announce empowerments and teachings from Venerable Khenchen Trinley Paljor Rinpoche. The program consists of:
Saturday, October 8
10:30am-12:00noon, and 2:30-4:00pm:
Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) Empowerment and Practice Guidance
Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) is the representation of the boundless compassion of all enlightened beings that lies dormant in all of us. The Avalokiteshvara empowerment will help you get started with a practice, or enhance your existing practice, of the Buddha of Compassion.
Sunday, October 9
Starting at 10:30am: Khenchen Rinpoche will join for the regularly scheduled weekly, group meditation session at the Bodhi Path Natural Bridge Center, and provide meditation practice guidance.
Tuesday, October 11
6:00-8:30pm: Milarepa Empowerment
This empowerment is an auspicious joining of the awareness of the recipient and the profound lineage of Milarepa (1040-1123). Renowned for having undergone immense hardships in order to attain enlightenment in one lifetime, Milarepa, a forefather of the Kagyu lineage, is considered to be Tibet's greatest poet and one of its most beloved yogis.
Khenchen Rinpoche’s summary biography:
Venerable Khenchen Trinley Paljor Rinpoche was born in Tibet in 1930 and is one of the chief lineage holders of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism. Khenchen means Great Khenpo (teacher) of the lineage.
Khenchen Rinpoche's training includes a transmission of the complete Karma Kagyu teachings from the 16th Karmapa as well as main teachings from the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism.
Khenchen Rinpoche is a retreat master (Druponla). The three-year, three-month, and three-day retreat is a traditional practice in Buddhism, which leads to rapid advancement. In 1972, the 16th Karmapa appointed Khenchen Rinpoche the personal tutor of the 4th Trungram Gyaltrul Rinpoche. They have worked together closely ever since. In 1999, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje conferred the title, 'Khenchen' (Great Khenpo) Rinpoche upon him and appointed him senior abbot of monastic ordination for the Kagyu School.
