Early Childhood Health Outdoors (ECHO) facilitates the co-creation of high-quality nature-based early childhood outdoor play and learning settings; provides support and resources for families, caregivers and educators to activate these settings; and supports systems change to make outdoor learning opportunities more accessible to more children. In 2023, ECHO is hosting multiple Roving Summits to engage educators, families, and other early childhood professionals in outdoor learning for young children.
We invite you to join us in Grand Junction on Saturday, April 22nd from 9:30am-12:00pm for a morning workshop hosted by Wishes and Dreams Learning Center, followed by optional afternoon tours of outdoor play spaces at Landmark Preschool and Little Imaginations Early Learning Center.
Morning Workshop at Wishes and Dreams Learning Center
You will hear about the journey the center’s staff embarked on as they transformed their outdoor learning environment to support healthy child development and foster an early connection to nature. We’ll also tour their outdoor space, see the transformation first-hand, and learn about how staff engage young children in nature-based play and learning. In this 2.5-hour workshop, you will engage in hands-on experiences and learn how you can begin to make enhancements to your outdoor space and activate it with young children.
Afternoon Tours of Landmark Preschool and Little Imaginations Early Learning Center
To extend this learning opportunity, we will be hosting two additional tours in the afternoon. The first tour will be hosted by Landmark Preschool in Grand Junction at 1:00pm (address: 1600 Ute Ave. Grand Junction, CO 81501.) The second tour will be hosted by Little Imaginations Early Learning Center in Fruita at 2:00pm (address: 433 E. Aspen Ave. Fruita, CO 81521.) At these program tours, we will visit their outdoor play areas to see how they transformed their spaces to support outdoor play and learning.
We invite child care providers, directors, coaches, child care health consultants, Early Childhood Council staff, environmental educators, landscape designers, families, and interested community members to attend.
