The Child Welfare Court Improvement Project and its Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) for Child Welfare and Family Court Practices, is hosting a 90-minute program to highlight the experience of kinship care and the voices of people impacted by the child welfare and legal system. You will hear directly from lived experts who will discuss their experience of the child welfare system and share their kinship care experiences. There will be a panel of multidisciplinary professionals across the field to discuss their roles and how Family Court judges, attorneys, child welfare agencies, community providers and others can become champions of a “kin-first” culture that prioritizes family voice and choice and that works to preserve and strengthen families, providing proper supports and services to them.
This is a multidisciplinary training offered to judges, attorneys, social service professionals, community providers, and people with lived experience in the child welfare and legal/judicial system across NYS.
