Chenrezig Retreat
A week long program
of study, reflection and meditation,
taught by Dharma Teacher Tsony.
February 9-16, 2013
Bodhi Path Natural Bridge
The Natural Bridge’s February retreat will focus this year on the practice of Chenrezig, studying both the practice text, “Extending Throughout Space for the Benefit of Beings”, by Tangtong Gyalpo, and the commentary, “Continual Rain for the Benefit of Beings”, by Khakhyab Dorje, the 15th Karmapa. We will explore the meaning of the famous, and powerful mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, and the function of the Vajrayana technique of visualization.
Chenrezig may be the most popular of all Buddhist deities, after the Buddha himself, in the pantheon of Tibetan Buddhist enlightened beings. Chenrezig, Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is renowned as the embodiment of compassion. According to legend, Chenrezig vowed not to rest until he had liberated all the beings from suffering. Engaging in this powerful practice increases one’s understanding and capability for compassion.
